Considered one of the best beers in the world because its complexity: high alcohol content but very pleasing and easy to drink.
Amazingly, Duvel beer was not always this golden liquid. She has been a dark beer!
When it was created, it was unlike anything that was served in Belgium and the initial production was quite limited.
According to the brewery, Van De Wouwer, a shoemaker and Albert’s friend, who described the beer as a true devil ("nen Echten Duvel," which in English means something like "what the hell beer"), because its alcohol content was extremely high, approximately 8.5%. So, in 1923 the name appeared for the beer that would become known as DUVEL that in Flemish means devil.
